Ms. Bockerstette is a remarkable golfer and an impressive presence on social media. Amy also is from Arizona. She achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first individual with Down syndrome to participate in the Arizona High School Girls Golf Division I State Championship. Her journey advanced as Amy secured a collegiate athletic scholarship, marking a groundbreaking achievement within the Down syndrome community. In 2021, she broke barriers again by becoming the first person with Down syndrome to compete in a national collegiate championship. Building on her successes, 2022 saw her clinching a silver medal during the Special Olympics USA Games. Amy’s participation in the Inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in Pinehurst, NC, further displayed her ongoing commitment to the sport.

Again, in 2023, Amy’s aspirations remain steadfast, representing the USA Special Olympics at the 2023 Special Olympics World Games and competing in the 2^nd U.S. Adaptive Open. Her advocacy for inclusivity for individuals with disabilities stands out, driven by her charismatic personality and unwavering determination to create unforeseen opportunities.

I Got This Foundation

The birth of the I Got This Foundation traces back to a memorable moment during the 2019 WM Phoenix Open practice round at TPC Scottsdale. Teaming up with Gary Woodland, Amy’s tee shot landed in a green-side bunker. In a display of resilience, when asked if she would like Gary to take the sand trap shot, she confidently proclaimed, “I got this!” and parred the hole. This instance, which garnered over 60 million views, is the most-viewed video in PGA TOUR history. This milestone motivated Amy and her family to establish the I Got This Foundation. This foundation fosters golf instruction and play opportunities for those with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Reflecting on her relationship with LVM Systems, Amy expressed her excitement to collaborate with LVM, a company from her home state that believes in her potential to effect positive change.
